HOUSTON – July 22, 2020 – Audimation Services, Inc., has selected Matt Storlie, CFE, CIDA with Wipfli LLP (Wipfli) as the recipient of the 2020 U.S. IDEA User of Excellence Award. He is being recognized for his longstanding use of data analytics to build anti-fraud, risk-based models and discovering new ways to analyze data in industries and practices the firm had not previously pursued.
The Award recognizes influencers and innovators using CaseWare IDEA® to make a meaningful impact in their organization from improving audits to identify risks and preventing fraud. Wipfli is a top 20 national accounting and consulting firm focused on helping its clients streamline processes, improve performance, leverage the right technology, and accelerate financial growth.
Storlie is a Manager in the Forensic and Litigation Services team and is the designated data analytics subject matter expert and advocate for Wipfli’s nearly 2,500 associates. He has used CaseWare IDEA® for more than 15 years as the engine for cleansing and correlating financial data to help both internal and external clients identify high-risk areas and detect and deter fraud.
Dru Carney, also a member of Wipfli’s Forensic and Litigation Services team, submitted the nomination and acknowledged Storlie’s dedication to sharing his expertise with colleagues, local chapter members, and graduate students at his alma mater, Iowa State University.

Storlie is currently developing a suite of applications in IDEA for both Wipfli and internal audit shops to streamline and standardize financial statement testing. These interactive scripts will help field auditors perform risk-based testing, conduct more proactive anti-fraud work, and deliver positive, lasting results.
Before joining Wipfli, Storlie worked in various fraud and forensic, data analytic and internal audit roles with Prime Therapeutics, University of Minnesota Physicians, PWC and Baker Tilly. He earned a BBA in Accounting from Iowa State University – College of Business, where he has served on the Accounting Executive Advisory Council since 2010. Storlie is a frequent speaker at conferences, including the IDEA User Conference and was a past president of the Twin Cities Chapter of Certified Fraud Examiners.
