2018 IDEA® User of Excellence Award Winner Selected


HOUSTON – June 15, 2018 – Audimation Services, Inc., has selected Jennifer Girard, Senior Auditor with the American Red Cross as the recipient of the 2018 U.S. IDEA® User of Excellence Award. She is being recognized for using data analytics to help the organization ensure that generous donations are used to help victims of a disaster.
 

The Red Cross is a humanitarian organization that helps people prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters big and small across the United States. After Hurricane Harvey devastated thousands of Texas communities in the fall of 2017 and was called the worst rainstorm in U.S. history, the Red Cross launched one of its largest disaster responses ever undertaken. In addition to providing safe shelter, meals and relief supplies, the Red Cross provided initial financial assistance to more than 575,000 affected households and today continues to deliver long-term recovery programs.
 

After Hurricane Harvey, the Red Cross Audit Services department worked closely with the Finance team to monitor a new online application process, which was set up to provide financial assistance as quickly as possible to help the hundreds of thousands of people affected. More recently, Girard consolidated hundreds of thousands of records to identify individuals who were eligible for additional assistance because they were impacted by one of three major disaster events in 2017 including Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma and devastating wildfires in California. She also tracked each step to establish confidence in the results and, over the course of several months, developed more than 1,200 tests and files to provide the best data possible and ensure the eligibility lists were accurate and complete. Her success prompted the Finance department to integrate IDEA into their work.

She is also the organization’s first Certified IDEA Data Analyst (CIDA) Girard will receive her award at the 2018 IDEA Innovations Conference in Denver, CO in mid-September.
