Students Attending The College of New Jersey Get Hands-On Audit Experience with Donation from the IDEA Academic Partnership

Houston - October 23, 2013 - Students taking Auditing Theory & Practice at The College of New Jersey will gain valuable experience using CaseWare IDEA® to import, analyze and review data as part of an audit simulation project thanks to an in-kind software donation from the IDEA Academic Partnership.

The donation, valued at $15,980, will be installed on audit lab computers to accommodate approximately 60-75 undergraduate students throughout the year. Students will use IDEA and simulated company data to practice getting the data into the analysis tool, perform various audit tests and techniques, and report on their findings.

“We try to replicate the processes of an actual audit, and that requires the use of professional-grade software,” said Hossein Nouri, Professor of Accounting & Information Systems with The College of New Jersey. “Professional accountants and auditors are tasked with analyzing volumes of data that would be impossible to test without the use of technology. This donation of IDEA will help increase the skill sets of our undergraduates so when they are ready to enter the workforce, they’ll be able to contribute immediately without much further training, and we feel that’s an advantage.”

The College of New Jersey is consistently ranked by U.S. News and World Report as one of the top institutions in the northern region of the country for undergrad education.

“Each year we see an increase among colleges and universities working to give students access to technology they will use in their profession,” said Dana Newman, Director of the IDEA Academic Partnership. “The College of New Jersey sets high standards for its students, and equips them with the tools and skills they’ll need when they graduate. This software donation is mutually beneficial because it benefits both the students and their future employers.”

The IDEA Academic Partnership is sponsored by Audimation Services, Inc., the sole U.S. distributor of IDEA, and SmartExporter. Participation is offered at no cost to U.S. accredited college and university educators. Additional information is available at
