The early stages of learning to use new technology can feel a bit like baptism by fire. While IDEA is easy to use, there is a natural learning curve that requires time, effort and patience. Presenter Russ Chidester will share his journey as a newly-hired auditor with extensive experience using spreadsheets, yet limited experience using databases, and how he evolved into a proficient IDEA user. He will inspire new users to overcome their fear of databases by inviting the audience to relive some of his own experiences. Data analytics is the future – take advantage of the latest advances to ensure your skillset is ready for the next opportunity!

As an Internal Auditor with the Texas Department of Transportation, Russ uses IDEA to analyze large, complex data to deliver results that get noticed at the top levels of the organization. During his career, Russ has led various teams within the intermodal logistics industry and managed a small manufacturer’s supply chain. He served seven years in the U.S. Army, earned a degree in Chinese Mandarin and an MBA in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management.
After completing this training, participants will learn:
 
  • How to use IDEA’s built-in functionality and Audimation’s customer service to open new opportunities in using data analytics
  • Build confidence in using data analytics to prepare data, identify non-compliant transactions in a complete population of data and more
  • Tips to easily write scripts that are customized to a specific application
