IDEA® Data Analysis Level 1 for Academics is a hands-on, two-day, comprehensive introductory course that will acquaint users with the IDEA platform’s functionality. This course is specifically designed with Academic Professors in mind.
Participants will have the opportunity to collaborate with other academic professionals taking the course, work with new data sets, and receive personalized support from the instructor relating to academic applications. Topics include, but are not limited to adding and manipulating fields, building equations, importing data, using multiple databases, reconciling data, identifying irregularities, isolating specific records, and sampling. Relevant real-world case studies
will also be shared.

After completing this training, participants will be able to:
- Understand the basic features and functionality of the IDEA platform
- Determine what data is required, and how to obtain and import various types
- Effectively manage and use multiple databases(append and join databases
- Reconcile and examine data to search for outliers and potential fraud
- Isolate specific records for further investigation
- Profile data using stratification and summarization
- Identify irregularities including Duplicate Key and Gap Detection
- Apply commonly-used sampling techniques: systematic, random and stratified random
- Build equations to add virtual fields, filter, sort,and match data, automate repeatable processes
